We Take Responsibility For Everything That Went Wrong In The Past 16yrs – PDP

The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has taken responsibility for the country’s woes in the last 16 years it has been in power, saying it is ready to make amends going forward.

The party lost power at the centre for the first time since Nigeria returned to democratic rule in 1999 in the March 28 presidential election won by the opposition party, the All Progressives Congress (APC).

In a series of tweet via its verified twitter handle, PDP asked Nigerians to suggest to it, ways by which it can move the party forward when it becomes the opposition on May 29 when President-elect Muhammadu Buhari will be sworn in.

“Good evening dear Nigerians. What are your suggestions to the PDP on the way forward, post May 29th?” the party wrote. “What kind of reforms will you like to see within the PDP?”

The party expressed determination to reform and reposition itself, saying suggestions from all Nigerians were appreciated.

“We want to run a new PDP that welcomes criticism & see it as a necessity to make amends.

“We have tried our best as a political party but must be quick to point out that we were not perfect. We never claimed to be.

“We are ready to listen to you & hear what you think. We require genuine & sincere advice from you because a one party system not an option.”

The party retweeted suggestion from Nigerians no matter how irrelevant they seem, noting that “Every opinion is important because it represents how some Nigerians are feeling about our party. Lesson time for us as a party.”

However, it dismissed changing its name as suggested by some people.
