Leon Balogun will not be extending his stay with newly promoted Bundesliga outfit, SV Darmstadt 98 after a successful season-long campaign
The Nigeria international joined Darmstadt in the summer of 2014 and went on to make 21 appearances, scoring four times. Upon seeing out his contract with the side, Balogun is free to agree terms with potential suitors in the coming months.
The Lillies secured back-to-back promotions to the German top flight after finishing as runners-up in the Bundesliga 2 in the 2014-15 season.
According to Kickers, coach Dirk Schuster has confirmed that the 26-year-old will not be in Darmstadt’s plans for next season.
Balogun’s next destination is yet unknown, but reports suggest his desire is to remain in the Bundesliga.
He was a mainstay of the Super Eagles’ solid defensive lineup against lowly ranked Chad in a 2017 African Cup of Nations qualifier on Saturday. It was the former Fortuna Düsseldorf full-back’s fourth full international cap for Nigeria.
