Governor Kashim Shettima of Borno has threatened to sack political appointees who fail to live up to the demands of their offices.
Mr. Shettima gave the warning at the swearing-in of the new Secretary to the State Government, Jidda Shuwa, and other political appointees in Maiduguri on Monday.
“I wish to state clearly without fear of contradiction that I will not hesitate to issue sack letter to any appointee who fails to perform to expectations”, Mr. Shettima said.
He said that the government was duty bound to ensure good governance at all spheres of human endeavours.
The governor pointed out that the appointees were selected based on their track records in service, and urged them to maintain the tempo.
The appointees include, Modu Musa, Chief of Staff to the Governor and Isa Gusau, Special Adviser on Communication and Strategy, among others.
