Nigeria senior women’s national team got their World Cup campaign off to a reassuring start on Monday with a 3-3 draw against at Sweden in Winnipeg.
The African champions trailed 2-0 at half time courtesy of Desire Oparanozie own-goal and Nilla Fischer’s strike just after the half-hour mark.
Ngozi Okobi halved Nigeria’s arrears five minutes after the restart and Asisat Oshoala equalised three minutes later.
Linda Birgitta Sembrant pulled the Scandinavians back in front on the hour mark but Fransesca Ordega restored parity three minutes from time to cap a delightful 6-goal spectacle in the Canadian city.
The Super Falcons next face Australia Women on Friday by 10pm.
The win means both Group D contenders have a point apiece and await the outcome of the other match between the USAWNT and Auatralia.
