Ikechukwu Uche is set to join Tigres UANL and will undergo medical at the Mexican club later on Wednesday.
Tigres announced through their Twitter feed that the Nigeria international will have medical on Wednesday evening.
Uche, 31, has featured for La Liga sides Getafe, Garnada, Recreativo and Real Zaragoza and has two years left in his current contract with Villarreal.
“He came to talk to us. We are interested in several players and our interest in this player is not new,” Tigres chairman Alejandro Rodriguez said in late May.
The Monterrey-based outfit play in the Mexico top flight. Uche will become the first African to play for the side upon completion of a lucrative three-year deal.
