Keshi to Work With Technical Study Group in Team Selection

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has said that coach of the national team, Stephen Keshi, will now work closely with the Technical Study Group.

The football federation have also confirmed Keshi no longer has sole responsibility in selection of the Super Eagles squad for international matches.

NFF president, Amaju Pinnick, disclosed that Technical Director, Shuaibu Amodu and the Technical Study Group headed by former Eagles Captain, Austin Okocha, will oversee the process of selecting players for the team’s assignments.

Pinnick, in a chat with Channels Sports, also noted that Keshi still has his role to play in the invitation of players for national team duty.

Amodu has reportedly been directed by the NFF to put his position as head Technical Director to proper use, adding that he will be held responsible for the team’s failure not Keshi.

Nigeria are second in Group G of the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) qualifier after their opening 2-0 win over Chad, as Egypt saw off Tanzania 3-0 to move top of the pool.

The Super Eagles will face Tanzania in Dar Es Salaam on 6 September, while Chad are at home to Egypt on the previous day.
