The National Broadcasting Commission (NBC), on Friday, implored the public to ignore radio Biafra’s transmission.
The commission was reacting to ‘hate messages’ purportedly emanating from the radio station on social media, where it called on ‘true Biafrans’ to go after some ethnic groups with everything at their disposal.
In a statement signed by the Director, Public Affairs of the commission, Alhaji Awwalu Salihu and made available to journalists in Abuja, the NBC said it had become aware of a pirate radio station transmitting seditious and divisive content contrary to the provisions of the nation’s extant broadcasting code and law.
The commission assured the public that it was working in conjunction with security forces to track the source of the broadcast.
It also urged the public to ignore the inflammatory content of the broadcast and continue to work toward a strong, united and prosperous nation.
