Cambiasso Bids Farewell to Leicester After A Successful Year

Argentine international, Esteban Cambiasso has turned down Leicester City’s plea to stay for a further year after seeing out his one-year deal.

The Argentine midfielder arrived the King Power stadium last summer on a one-year deal which expired last month and, despite several efforts by the Premier League side, confirmed on Tuesday night that he is moving on.

New managers Claudio Ranieri, confirmed he has been in talks with the 34-year-old, who was voted club player of the year last term, about a new deal, urging him to “please stay.”
Cambiasso said in a Facebook message: “I have taken this decision only 24 hours after receiving the proposal from Leicester because I want to give the club as much time as possible to find an alternative.
“I would like to thanks (sic) all the fans who last season made me feel proud to be part of a club with an unforgettable spirit and energy.

“And a very special thanks to all my team mates, staff and every people of the club, with whom I have lived one of the most important years of my career, crowned with the remaining EPL status.

“Many thanks to everyone, keeping you all forever in my heart.”

Cambiasso made 31 league appearances for Leicester, scoring 5 goals to help the side retain their top flight status.
