As Globacom prepares to unveil its new ambassadors, its management has hailed those that won awards at this year’s MAMA in South Africa.

According to an official of the telecoms company, John Awe, top among the Glo ambassadors who stole the show last Saturday was ‘koko master D’Banj, who pocketed the maiden MAMA Evolution Award. He beat other mega super stars, 2face and Asa, among others to emerge winner.

MAMA Evolution Award was introduced in the 2015 edition to celebrate artistes who have made a huge impact on the African music scene, taking African music beyond the continent through hard work and uncommon creativity.

Awe adds, “Also, Paul Okoye and his twin brother, Peter, popularly known as Psquare, who are long-time Glo ambassadors, won other major categories. They won the ‘Best Group’ award, beating South Africa’s house sensations, Beatenberg, Kenya’s power musicians, Sauti Sol, and Angola’s B4. They also won a non-voting category, ‘Artiste of the Decade’, in recognition of their successful longevity at the top of African music.”

In the same vein, Burnaboy, (Damini Ogulu), another ambassador of the telecom company, also bagged an award for his collaborative work, All Eyes On Me, together with AKA, Da Les & JR: (South Africa/Nigeria). Glo’s new sign-ons, Korede Bello, Reekado Banks and Di’ja, also shared in the glory when Dorobucci, a song in which they featured prominently under the Mavin Record crew, was crowned the ‘Song of the Year.’
