Kano Police Command Recovers Arms, Cows, Laptop From Criminals (photos)

KANO POLICE COMMAND PRESENT RECENT ACHIEVEMENTS TO PRESS

AT THE POLICE HEADQUARTERS KANO COMMAND ON TUESDAY 28TH JULY, 2015

1. ARREST OF A GANG OF CATTLE RUSTLERS: On 21/7/2015 at about 0800hrs, acting on information, Kano State Police Command arrested one Yahaya Sale a.k.a. Narigasa ‘m’ aged 30yrs of Soba, Hukuyi LGA Zaria Kaduna State, but residence at Falgore forest Doguwa LGA Kano for his involvement in series of attack and robbery of domestic animal cattle/sheep within Kano and neighboring States. In the course of investigation the suspect confessed to be the gang leader of a 10 men team based inside Falgore/Gomo Forest that specialized in armed robbery and cattle rustling. Three members of his syndicate were already arrested and prosecuted in Court, one was killed during encounter with the Police and others are still inside the forest with operational arms. He further stated to the Police that his gang had rustled over 30,000 cows in the last four years. 197 cows were recovered between 21/7/2015 and 26/7/2015.

So far, the Command has arrested 31 suspected cattle rustlers and recovered 197 cows. Investigation is in progress as strong effort is on to comb the rustlers’ hideouts, arrests them, recover their arms and all stolen cattle and sheep.

2. ARREST OF NOTORIOUS SYNDICATE OF ARMED ROBBERS: On 1/7/2015 at about 2030hrs one Hauwa Mustapha ‘f’ of Ring road eastern bye pass Hotoro Qtrs Kano invited and conspired with 1. Isa Sani 2. Sabiu Abdullahi 3. Mohammed Yakubu 4. Hassan Mohammed and 5. Bashir Sulaiman all of various addresses, armed themselves with offensive weapons such as guns and knives and stormed into a residence at Danbare Qtrs Kano where they robbed the victim off one Mercedes car, three GSM Sets, 1 laptop, ITV Plasma, cash sum of N147,000.00K and other valuables. On 5/7/2015 the suspects were tracked in Jos Plateau State where they were arrested. On spot search 2 locally made pistols, 9 mm live ammunitions, knife and some of the loot were recovered. They confessed to the crime and stated that the car was disposed at one of the North-western States. Investigation is in its full course to recover the remaining stolen items and arrest the other accomplices at large for prosecution.

3. ARREST OF NOTORIOUS ARMED ROBBERY GANG TERRORIZING TRAVELERS ALONG KANO-KADUNA EXPRESS WAY: On 23/7/2015 at about 1350hrs a team of policemen attached to SARS CID Kano while on surveillance Patrol along Zaria Road Kano arrested one Zubairu Garba and Sunday Jatau all of Kaduna State. On spot search, 2 locally made guns and 19 cartridges are recovered from them. Suspects confessed to be members of a notorious gang that have been terrorizing travelers along Kano-Zaria-Kaduna express road wearing Police uniforms to carry out their dastardly act. They robbed many cars and valuables along the road. Further investigation led to the recovery of one pump action gun, one pair of Police Camouflage Uniform and one Police Denim kit. They also mentioned one other person now at large as the supplier of their operational arms at a cost of N300,000.00K each. Investigation is in progress.

4. ARREST OF NOTORIOUS KILLER GANG OF YANDABA: On the 2nd Day of Sallah celebration that was a day for Hawan Daushe which is equivalent to 19/7/2015 at about 2000hrs. there was a clash of Yan-Daba along Murtala Mohd Hospital Mosque by K/Mata Qtrs where as a result the Yan-Daba’s stabbed 11 innocent persons. The Command drafted quick response team to the scene, and on arrival one unknown Dan-Daba attemted to stab a Police man with a dangerous locally made weapon but was shot on leg and later died. Among the 11 victims, one Umar Mohd a tailor later gave up the ghost at Hospital while receiving treatment. During investigation operatives attched to SARS CID Kano arrested one Taju Kabiru ‘m’ 32yrs of Zage Qtrs Kano. He confessed to have actively participated in the attack and mentioned 1. Isah Musa ‘m’ of Zangon Yan Madubi and 2. Kabiru Abdullahi ‘m’ of Fagge Qtrs as his accomplice. All the suspects confessed to the crime while efforts is on top gear to arrest others who are now at large.

Due to the recent activities of Yandaba that caused injuries, killings, theft, damaging of public and private properties the Command had from 3/7/2015 to date launched an offensive campaign on them within Kano Metropolis. So far, 167 suspects with large quantity of weaponry and drugs exhibits were arrested and charged to various Courts for prosecution. 88 Suspects were so far convicted from 6 Months to one year jail terms while 79 others are awaiting trial.
