Director-General, National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) Dr. Paul Orhii, today denied the allegation of corrupt practices levied against Orhii by Mr. Ademola Mogbojuri, which alleged corrupt practices against the Director-General of the Agency.

A statement on Tuesday by NAFDAC’s Director, Special Duties, Mr. Abubakar Jimoh, said the report was mischievous.

“we wish to state categorically that these allegations are baseless, false, misleading and frivolous because nothing of such happened under the watch of Dr. Paul Orli as Director–General of NAFDAC.”

“It is curious paradox that the so called Director of Finance and Accounts who has been superintending over contract awards, payments and other due processes since 2010 would now turn around to make such false and disparaging allegations against the chief executive just when he was redeployed to another directorate dude to his incompetence and insubordination.”

“In any case, redeployment and movement of officers in civil service area a normal routine. This not the first time since the creation of NAFDAC that directors are reshuffled,” said Jimoh.

“NAFDAC is aware of orchestrated plot to throw mud at it by certain interests whose trade in unwholesome food and counterfeit drugs had been affected by proactive actions of Dr. Orhii towards ensuring that unwholesome food and counterfeit drugs become history in Nigeria.”

“We are therefore not surprise that these allegations are coming up from a director, who is already disgruntled and finding ways of hitting back at the agent and chief executive.”

“NAFADAC urges members of the public to ignore the allegations. NAFDAC also assures that management will not lose focus under the night of the frivolous allegations.”

“NAFDAC will also take actions within the extent civil service rules which have spelt out measure to a take against civil servants who are involved in acts of insubordination gross misconduct and dereliction of duties.”

“It would be recalled that the NAFDAC  chapter of the medical and health  workers union had in a recent press conference in Lagos applauded the action of the management and insisted that the officer  must comply with the redeployment as director of the agencies training institute in Kaduna.”

“NAFDAC under the able leadership of Dr. Orhii has rewarded monumental achievements in the area of infrastructural transformation, regulatory, enforcement, prosecution of offenders, capacity building and international collaborations which launched the agency into the league of top twenty (20) medicine regulatory authorities in the world.”
