Thirty-six State chairmen of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and that of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja have given the National Working Committee (NWC) of the party, a 14-day ultimatum to summon a meeting of the National Executive Committee (NEC), to address burning issues in the party.

The state chairmen, rising from a three-hour closed door meeting with members of the NWC told the leadership of the party that the NEC meeting has become imperative and must hold now to strengthen and reposition the party.

The last NEC meeting was held weeks before the March 28 presidential election and after the loss of the PDP, there were calls for the convocation of NEC meeting and resignation of NWC members. An emergency NEC meeting could not hold in May to resolve the crisis within the party as then National Chairman, Ahmed Adamu Muazu, embarked on a medical trip abroad. He later bowed to pressure and resigned.
