Pinnick Charges Falcons to Conquer in Bata

President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Amaju Pinnick, has charged players of the senior women’s national team to secure their progress to the 2016 Olympic Games with Sunday’s make-or-mar clash in Equatorial Guinea.

Pinnick was at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport early on Thursday to receive the seven-time African champions as they arrived in Lagos on their route to Bata.

The Super Falcons will look to upstage the Equatoguineans in front of their home crowd on Sunday in a third round African qualifier for the 2016 Olympics Women’s Football Tournament.

But the coach Christopher Danjuma-tutored ladies have it all to do in Bata after drawing the first leg 1-1 in Abuja a fortnight ago.

“On Sunday, Nigerians expect you to deliver as you have always done,” Pinnick said. “A place in the final round of the qualifying race to the Olympics is certainly within your grasp.”

In response, coach Chris Danjuma assured the NFF president that his charges will approach the crunch tie as a must-win encounter.

“The way it is, we have no choice but to fight and fight, because we must score goals. I want to assure Nigerians that my team is up to the task,” he said.

The selected players are:

Tochukwu Oluehi, Evelyn Nwabuoku, Blessing Edoho, Osarenoma Igbinovia, Joy Jegede, Osinachi Ohale, Martina Ohadugha, Desire Oparanozie, Cecilia Nku, Sarah Nnodim, Ngozi Ebere, Amarachi Okoronkwo, Ngozi Okobi, Chioma Wogu, Mercy Amanze, Precious Dede, Gladys Akpa and Chinaza Uchendu.
