Ranieri Named Leicester Boss

Leicester City have appointed Claudio Ranieri as new head coach.

The Italian has signed a three-year deal at the King Power stadium and succeeds Nigel Pearson who inspired the club’s Premier League survival last season but was shown the exit door at the end of June.

“I have worked at many great clubs, in many top leagues, but since I left Chelsea I have dreamt of another chance to work in the best league in the world again,” Ranieri told the club’s official website.

“I wish to thank the owner, his son and all the executives of the club for the opportunity they are giving me. Now I’ve only one way for returning their trust – squeeze all my energies to getting the best results for the team.”

The 63-year-old returns to the Premier League, eleven years after leaving Chelsea. He has coached Valencia, Parma, Juventus, Roma, Inter Milan and Monaco since then.

The ‘Tinkerman,’ as he is fondly called, led Valencia to the Spanish Cup title in 1999.

Ranieri was dismissed from his last job with the Greece national team last year.
