Abduction: Police Nab Man Trying To Sell 3-Year-Old Girl

The Taraba State Police Command has arrested a 51-year-old man for allegedly kidnapping a three-year-old girl.

Briefing journalists yesterday in Jalingo, the acting commissioner of police in the state, Mr. Bello Ahmad said that the suspect, Dalibi Tanko, was arrested by a team of policemen at Mallam Abba ward, Mutun Buyi, while he was trying to sell the girl to one Uba Idris Shagarda of Jantaro village.

“Though nobody knows where he took the little girl from, information only got to us that a man was looking for someone to buy a three-year-old girl from him,” he said.

According to him, when the suspect was interrogated, he confessed he kidnapped the girl from one Mallam Babaji of Mallam Abba ward, Mutun-Biyu.

The kidnaped girl was later identified as Maryam Babaji, a daughter to one Mallam Babaji.

He added that as soon as investigation was concluded, the suspect would be charge to court.

The CP called on the public to join hands in the fight against kidnaping and other criminal offenses in the state by volunteering information that would aid the command’s operations.
