Enyimba climbed top of the Glo Premier League standings on Sunday after playing out an entertaining 1-1 draw with Enugu Rangers as Sunshine Stars were pegged back at FC Taraba on Sunday.

The ‘Akure Gunners’ are now second in the Nigeria League table after suffering a 1-0 defeat away to FC Taraba in a Match Day 20 clash in Jalingo.

Stephen Adah tucked home a rebound of Ibrahim Sanusi’s spot-kick, which came off the goal post, after Kunle Odunlami was adjudged to have handled the ball in the goal area.

Sunshine Stars remain on 36 points, while the Jolly Nyame stadium outfit improve to 16 points but remain in the bottom of the table.

The Oriental Derby leaved up to expectation as Musa Najere marked his Enyimba debut with a goal against his former club in the 37th minute, but that was only 28 minutes after OnoriedeOdah had given Rangers and early lead.

The game also marked a return to action for the ‘Peoples Elephants’s’ star striker Mfon Udoh after a long injury lay-off, coming on for Ifeanyi George on the half-hour mark.

Elsewhere in Kastina, Abraham Audu’s goal settled a 1-0 win for El-Kanemi Warriors against visitors Shooting Stars.

Audu’s goal came on 65 minutes from a Kabiru Abdullahi pass. The latter had a chance to double the Warriors’ lead in the 25th minute but failed to keep his ball on target.

El-Kanemi now have 27 points from 20 matches, while 3SC have 26 points from the same number of games.

Heartland forced Wikki Tourists to a goalless draw on the road, as FC IfeanyiUbah and Abia Warriors also settled for a 1-1 draw.

Wikki’s Mubarak Umar had the ball at the back of the net in the 47th minute, but his effort was ruled for an offside.

Goals from Christopher Omosebi and Yusuf Azeez helped share the spoils in the Nnewi for hosts IfeanyiUbah and Abia Warriors.
