Nigerian Airforce, Army Repel Boko Haram Attack In Borno

A combined effort by the Nigerian Airforce (NAF) and the Nigerian Army has thwarted the efforts of terrorist group, Boko Haram, to successfully cause harm in Bita Village, Borno state.

The Nigerian Air Force, using its Alpha-Jet, provided combat air support to the Nigerian Army troops on ground  to attack the insurgents where they were observed after close monitoring to be gearing up to attack the village.

The Director of Information of the Nigerian Air Force, Air Commodore Dele Alonge, in a statement made available to Daily Post, said many of the insurgents were killed and several others were injured.

After repelling the attack,, the NAF A-Jet conducted an armed reconnaissance along Bita-Gwoza road and through Yamtege, Hamdaga, Dure and Pulka.

The Airforce assured that they will continue to give all necessary support to the ground force through their intensified and persistent efforts in the ongoing fight against the insurgents in the North-east until all portions of Nigerian soil is safe and free from the terrorists.

Meanwhile, Nigeria’s new Chief of Army Staff, Tukur Buratai, has promised that the Nigerian army under his watch will restructure its operations to effectively tackle the insurgency ravaging the North eastern part of the country.
