Glo Premier League side FC Taraba risk being docked six points by the League Management Company (LMC) if they fail to pay their players’ salary, the league body has warned.
The league bottom-placed team have owed salaries for several months, which could soon prompt the LMC to exercise a summary jurisdiction.
The terms of a contract between a club and a player shall be strictly adhered to and where a club fails to pay remunerations and entitlements due to a player for a period of more than 60 DAYS such club shall be liable to a deduction of 6 (six) points and a further deduction of 3 (three) points every 30 days for which the entitlement remains unpaid… Article B9.45 (NPFL Rules and Framework for 2014/15).
As spelt out in the aforementioned Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) statute, six points would be deducted from Taraba’s points haul and a further three for every 30 days were they to continue to withhold the amount due to their stalwarts.
A correspondence, signed by the LMC Chief Operating Officer, Salihu Abubakar, and dated 30 July, has been forwarded to the Jalingo-based outfit.
