Ohio Police are investigating the death of an 8-month-old boy who was found dead in a car at a Walmart parking lot here Wednesday.
According to the Macedonia Police Department, a parent or guardian drove the family’s four children to a day care center at around 8 a.m.
Three of the children got out of the car at the day care, but the 8-month-old was left in a car seat.
Three to four hours later, the child’s grandmother drove the vehicle to her job at Walmart. The woman reportedly did not look in the back of the vehicle and did not see the baby.
Around 5:30 p.m., the baby’s mother called the grandmother to say that she couldn’t find the baby.
When the grandmother went out to the parking lot to check the vehicle, she found the baby dead.
A portion of the parking lot was closed Wednesday night while police searched the vehicle at the scene.
The car was towed shortly after 8 p.m., and the parking lot reopened.
