APC Governors Shun Progressive Governors’ Meeting

Governors elected under the umbrella of the All Progressives Congress (APC) have shunned a planned meeting of the Progressive Governors Forum in Katsina, forcing the organisers to cancel the event, reports Vanguard.

The meeting scheduled to hold between Sept. 14 and 16, was meant to set legislative agenda for the implementation of the APC manifesto.

Some of the governors were unavoidably absent due to more important engagements. Ogun State governor Ibikunle Amosun was on the team that accompanied President Muhammadu Buhari on his three-day working visit to France.

The Senate President, Speaker, House of Representatives, Speakers of APC state assemblies and key officers of the party who were also expected at the meeting were absent.

The Chairman, Local Organising Committee and secretary to the Katsina state government, Alhaji Mustapha Inuwa told newsmen that the parley had to be postponed due to poor attendance.

According to him, most of the expected dignitaries have travelled to Saudi Arabia for the Hajj.

Inuwa said although the state was fully prepared to host the event, “the postponement was necessary in view of low turnout of participants”.

The Director General of Progressive Governors Forum, Salihu Lukman said that a new date would be announced for the inaugural parley later.

  1. Since these Governors used Buhari’s name and Osinbajo’s goodwill to win their elections, they must copy Buhari’s example and rule like him, otherwise they will soon be consigned to the dust-bin of history. Ditto legislators. A word is enough for the wise.
