APC National Working C’ttee Annuls Sylva’s Victory, Orders Fresh Guber Primary In Bayelsa

Odigie-Oyegun1

The All Progressives Congress on Monday ordered the conduct of fresh governorship ‎primary to select the party’s candidate for the December 5 governorship election in Bayelsa State.

National Chairman of the party, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, made this disclosure at the end of the party’s National Working Committee meeting in Abuja on Monday

A former state governor and one of the aspirants, Timipre Sylva, had insisted that he won the primary conducted last Tuesday, which was said to have been marred by violence and intimidation. He also rejected any moves by the party to annul his victory and conduct another primary, saying he won fair and square.

With this latest directive from the NWC, coming hours after the Bayelsa APC chairman Chief Tiwei Orunimighe said Sylva’s victory was irreversible, it remains to be seen how the party at the centre will put its house in order with key actors working at cross-purposes.
