Buhari Did Not Shut Chapel At Aso Rock Villa – Adesina

Muhammadu Buhari

The Special Adviser to President Muhammadu Buhari on Media and Publicity, Mr. Femi Adesina, has dismissed claims that the president ordered the shutdown of the Chapel in Aso Villa, Abuja.

In a tweet to dispel the rumour, Adesina stated: “President Muhammadu Buhari (PMB) orders Aso Villa Chapel shut? There is no such thing. It’s only a rumour spawned by fecund imagination gone into overdrive. PMB respects freedom of worship.”

Reports have said that President Buhari had allegedly moved against Christian religious activities within the precincts of the Aso Rock presidential villa. The Aso Rock Villa Chapel serves as the official church of Aso Rock where Christian activities inside the presidential villa are conducted.

However, reports said such activities could not continue as heavily armed men reportedly stormed the Chapel on Sunday, August 30, 2015 denying worshipers access. But apart from Adesina’s tweet, photos emanating from the chapel on Sunday, September 6, 2015, showed that the Aso Villa chapel was not shut.
