Gains In Fight Against Insurgency, Sign Of Good Governance – Sultan

sultanThe Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammadu Sa’ad Abubakar III, Thursday attributed the prevailing peace in the country to good leadership.
The Sultan stated this in a Sallah goodwill message in which he described insurgency as un-Islamic and condemnable.
“Insurgency is against the tenets of Islam in the world over”, he said.
The President-General of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, noted that there has been tremendous achievement in the fight against insurgency in the North-east, adding that the situation is a sign of good governance.
“Leadership is a trust from God and we must strive to discharge it diligently, piously and transparently. Governments at all levels are trying their best to provide for the people, but more should be done”, he said.
“More policies and programmes should be introduced to further reduce the menace of poverty and unemployment in the country. They would also help to dissuade our youths from engaging in crime”, Sultan Abubakar added.
He commended security agencies in the country for their sustained efforts in tackling insurgency and other related crimes.
The Sultan also extended his condolence to families of insurgency victims and those who lost their lives in Saudi Arabia during the Hajj pilgrimage.
He further commended Gov. Aminu Tambuwal for sustaining laudable programmes and policies of his predecessor.
