Super-sub Iheanacho Scores Man City’s Late Winner At Palace

Kelechi Iheanacho needed a minute to open his Premier League account on Saturday and help Manchester City continue their perfect start.

The Nigeria international, an 89th minute substitute for Ivoirian Wilfried Bony, tapped home the match-winner to salvage a 1-0 win for Man City away to Crystal Palace.

The win was the 11th on the trot for coach Manuel Pellegrini’s side, who have recorded maximum points from five matches this season.

The 18-year-old told Sky Sports: “I said to myself, ‘if I go in I will do what he (Pellegrini) asked me’. I scored a great goal so I am really happy”

The City third-choice striker was in a good position to stab home an Alex McCarthy rebound of Samir Nasri shot within 54 seconds of coming on as a late substitute.

Iheanacho also scores twice in five matches in the pre-season.
