Sevilla Defender Rami Out for Six Weeks

Sevilla defender Adil Rami has been ruled out for up to six weeks with a groin injury.

The 29-year-old, who joined the reigning Europa League champions from AC Milan for a fee believed to be €3.5 million, will miss the start of the Champions League campaign.

The Frenchman will miss Sevilla’s opening Group D matches at home to Borussia Monchengladbach and away to Juventus, as well as Barcelona’s visit to the Sanchez Pizjuan in the Spanish La Liga early next month.

He could return in time to face Manchester City at the Etihad stadium on 21 October.

Speaking prior to the confirmation of his injury, http://as.com/diarioas/2015/09/07/english/1441631871_994874.html: “It’s a very tough group, but the Champions League is a dream for every player who loves football. What I like most is how the teams that play us will respect us.”

Rami made 21 league appearances for Milan last season, scoring in a 1-1 draw with AC Casena on 28 September.
