Several worshippers have been killed at a Jummat Mosque in Jimeta town, Yola, the Adamawa State capital following an explosion that occurred as Muslim faithful gathered at the newly launched mosque.

The explosion at Jumbutu, one of the crowded settlements in Jimeta, came barely 11 hours after suspected members of Islamist sect, Boko Haram attacked a mosque in Maiduguri, the Borno state capital.

Although there are no official figures yet, eyewitnesses say more than 20 people could have been killed in the attack.

Terrorists had in June attacked Jimeta night market where a bomb explosion led to several deaths.
