SEE Why Some Nigerians On Buhari’s Ministerial List Should Not Be Ministers

Some of the 21 people nominated by President Muhammadu Buhari have at one time or the other been accused of actions unbecoming of a public office holder under the current administration which is widely believed to abhor corruption or any ‘appearance of evil’ – from lawless habits, to attitude to public office and public trust. Although in most of the cases, the allegations were never substantiated, but Nigerians have a right to their opinions and why they think some people are not good enough to lead them.

Aisha Alhassan

She was accused of embezzlement as Chief Registrar of the Federal Capital Territory High Court from 2003 to 2009. She has married thrice and it was never because a husband died. Read

Lai Mohammed

The People’s Democratic Party once accused the National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, of embezzling funds meant for the execution of an airport project. The project was said to be situated in one of the South West states. Mohammed was also said to have collected money for the supply of ambulances in one of the South West states but failed to deliver on the contract.

He never also shied away from insulting former President Goodluck Jonathan when APC was the opposition party; once saying Jonathan was too lazy to read.

Adebayo Shittu
Not much can be said about Shittu except that the state chapter of his party rejected his nomination for not being a team player. If he will be a good minister in President Buhari’s cabinet, he has to work with others as a team.

Babatunde Fashola
Once the poster boy of Nigeria’s democracy, series of allegations almost tainted Fashola’s image. Although he made the ministerial nominees list, the allegations have not gone away. From the N78 million website upgrade to the N25 billion 1.36km Lekki-Ikoyi Link Bridge, Fashola is not a saint to a lot of people.

Udoma Udo-Udoma
A political support group of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Akwa Ibom State has rejected the nomination of Senator Udoma Udo Udoma by President Muhamadu Buhari for Ministerial Appointment. Reason: He is a card carrying member of the opposition People’s Democratic Party and an inner caucus member of the Mr. Udom Emmanuel’s government in Akwa Ibom.

In a statement made available to Elombah.com and signed by Mr. Solomon Akpan, Director of Information, the political group stated they approached Senator Udoma Udo Udoma to contest the 2015 governorship election under the platform of APC but Udoma told them “straight and rigid-that he is a committed member of the Peoples Democratic Party and would not want to mess himself up with opposition politics.”

Who knew whether President Buhari chose him for his loyalty?

Kayode Fayemi

Fayemi was alleged to have failed a corruption test by the Department of State Service (DSS) based on claims of corruption brought against him before the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the Independent Corrupt Practices and other Related Offenses Commission (ICPC).

Rotimi Amaechi
Hanging over Amaechi’s head are allegations of fraud concerning the sale of state power plants and conversion of proceeds of $302million, unlawful payment of over N4 billion to Clinoriv Specialist Hospital and unlawful enrichment of firm, Messrs Collect Nigeria Ltd with public funds amounting to over N1.5billion.

Chris Ngige
From stealing the mandate of former Anambra Governor Peter Obi to not doing enough for his constituency as senator, Ngige has made some enemies.

Abdulrahman Danbazau

Danbazau has always believed in Buhari and Buhari in him. But some party chiefs have warned Buhari to be wary of his friend even before he was sworn in as president.

“He shields everyone; including persons who have plenty of good intentions, from having access to Buhari. If Buhari knows what’s best for him, he has to dispense with Dambazau’s services as soon as possible,” the source told Ekekee in April.

  1. All this people who re found wanting and each one of them has cockroaches in their cupboard and lived a crooked way in handling that which was entrusted to them in the past, still coming back to do more harm than good to this country? Hmmm, when will Nigerians learn from their past mistakes?
