Following the order of rerun of the Akwa Ibom State governorship election by the tribunal, Delta State People’s Democratic (PDP) acting spokesman, Chief Sunny Onuesoke, has asserted that the PDP Governor of Akwa-Ibom State, Emmanuel Udom will win the governorship re-run election in the 18 local councils of the state as ordered by the tribunal, even if it is conducted 50 times.

Reacting to the pronouncement of Akwa-Ibom state governorship election tribunal which nullified election in 18 local government areas of the state, Onuesoke described the development as a ploy by the opposition to take over control of the state.

“PDP will win because it is on record that APC does not have structures in Akwa Ibom state. Besides, the past PDP governors and the present one have developed the states in all ramification that no normal Akwa-Ibom state indigenes will cast their votes for another party besides PDP.”

However, he expressed regret that the conduct of re-run election will involve spending scarce financial resources at a time when the government financial resources is low.

“Elections were held in the north, west and southern parts and no one is challenging election in other parts of Nigeria like is being done in oil producing states. Are you telling us that all the states in the western part that APC won are free and fair? What about the northern part? Are you telling me that they are clean as it is?” Onuesoke queried.
