Emir Of Kano Counsel Parents In Rural Areas Against Girl-Child Trafficking, Child Labour

Emir Sanusi

The Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, has charged parents, especially those in the rural areas, to desist from subjecting their children and wards to labour and trafficking.

Sanusi II, who gave the charge at Ungogo town when he paid a working visit to the district area, pointed out that girl-child trafficking was abhorrent practice in the society today.

While decrying the social menace, the emir said taking small girls to cities for hard labour, stunts their future progress.

According to him, the practice also retards the progress of the society.

“Do not engage your girl-child in the street hawking, or send them to cities for labour”, the emir admonished.

“Life doesn’t go smoothly without education and good moral upbringing”, he added.

The traditional ruler also called on the subjects to intensify efforts in safe-guarding their domains through collaboration with the security agencies.

“Whenever you notice a suspicious character in your area, do not relent to inform the leaders as well as security operatives”, he said.
