I’m Devastated By Audu’s Death – Buhari

Audu-OsinbajoPresident Muhammadu Buhari has reacted to the death of the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate in the inconclusive governorship election in Kogi State, Prince Abubakar Audu, saying he was devastated by the news.

Buhari, who is in Tehran, the Iranian capital, attending the Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF), said he received the news of Audu’s death with an enormous sense of shock.

This was contained in a statement by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity Mallam Garba Shehu, who said “We are obviously devastated at the loss”.

According to the statement, President Buhari described the late Audu as a talented politician, a loving family head and respected community leader.

“He (Audu) was immensely courageous”, the president was quoted to have said.

The presidential spokesman said Buhari condoled with Audu’s family, the government and people of Kogi State as well as all “our party members, men and women who stood with Audu in his bid to return as Governor. He ran as the favorite in the election as the early results have clearly shown”.
