Police-arrest-five-over-attack-on-Benue-monarchFour members of a gang have been arrested by the Ogun State Police Command with explosive devices and cables in Ayepe town of the state.

The gang members were said to have traveled all the way from Delta State to Ogun to meet their ring leader for an operation.

Parading the four suspects on Thursday at Eleweran Police Headquarters, Abeokuta, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Celestine Okoye, said the suspects included Gelebele Aitlabor, Moses Demene, Mohammed Kaidiri and Friday Saborom.

But for the vigilance of the people of Ayepe town, who informed the police that they sighted some strange looking people with bags around town, the gang could have gone unnoticed and carried out their mission in the state.

DCP Okorie said upon receiving the useful information, policemen on patrol at Ayepe town immediately swooped in on the four-man gang.

“On searching the bag, four explosive devices with three connection wires were recovered from them.

“The suspects confessed that they were coming from Delta State to meet their gang leader named Wisdom in Ogun State, who is now at large”, he said.

The police boss said on further interrogations, the suspects claimed they were in Ogun State to rob.

The police boss said the suspects would be charged to court on completion of investigations.
