Arowofela Olufemi, a suspect being investigated for fraud by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), is dead.

Sahara Reporters say the suspect, who was in the custody of the EFCC in Lagos, complained of chest pains on Saturday evening and was rushed to a nearby Military Hospital.

He died before he could be treated by a doctor.

His remains were deposited at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital’s mortuary, while the death has been reported at the Onikan Division of the Nigeria Police.

The deceased was reportedly arrested by the EFCC after the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) complained that he was involved in fraudulent diversion of dividend warrants worth N100 million.

Olufemi, who arrested while trying to cash stolen dividend warrants, was said to have been granted administrative bail but was yet to produce a surety to perfect his bail condition.
