Ibrahim DankwamboThe Federal Court of Appeal sitting in Yola, the Adamawa state capital Thursday, upheld the decision of the Governorship Election Petition Tribunal that affirmed Hassan Dankwambo’s election as Governor of Gombe State.

It would be recalled that in its ruling on October 14, the tribunal dismissed a petition filed by the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the April 11 governorship election, Inuwa Yahya, challenging Dankwambo’s victory in the polls.

Dankwambo won re-election on the platform of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

The tribunal said the petitioner simply “wasted the time of the tribunal”, adding that he deliberately attempted to defame the character of members of the tribunal while the case lasted.

While rejecting Yahya’s petition, the tribunal fined him N3, 500.

Details later.
