Corrupt Nigerians Must Not Go Scot Free, Lagos Assembly Tasks FG

Lagos House

Lagos state house of assembly has tasked the Federal Government on recovering stolen funds from indicted former public officials and their cronies.

Speaking to reporters at a training programme organised by the assembly at the Green Legacy Resort inside Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library (OOPL), Abeokuta, Ogun State, the assembly through its lawmakers; stated that the indicted Nigerians should not be allowed to go scot free.

“Whether the people involved in the massive corruption allegations are jailed or not, let us get the money back. You can jail them to serve as a deterrent to others, but the money must be collected,” said Abiodun Tobun, lawmaker representing Epe 1 constituency.

The lawmaker urged members of the judiciary to do their best to ensure that guilty public officials and their cronies do not go scot free.

Also speaking, Mr. Bisi Yusuf stated that, when President Muhammadu Buhari indicated interest to contest for the nation’s presidency, people didn’t know that he could achieve maximum moral standard, but the people can now see that it was God that put him in power.

“We can see the revelations. Imagine if the Peoples Democratic Party,PDP, got back to power, it would have been so bad and Nigeria would have totally broken down.

“The revelation of financial recklessness of the past government and the huge amount of money that is being discussed is criminal, the people involved should be prosecuted. The first thing is for us to take the money back from them and people should know how much has been collected and they must be prosecuted,” he said.
