Rep Rejects Immunity For Senate President, House Speaker, CJN

A member of the House of Representatives, Rep Philip Shaibu says the House will reject any proposal to grant immunity to the Senate President, Speaker of the House of Representatives and the Chief Judge of the Federation (CJN).

The lawmaker who is also a human rights activist said the House would never support any anti-people bill.

Minority Leader of the House of Representatives, Leo Ogor had few months ago said that the National Assembly may consider immunity for the leaders of the national assembly and the CJN in the Constitutional review.

According to him, most of the distractions the legislature always faced was due to external influences, therefore immunity for the heads of the legislature and judiciary would reduce such.
