Shaw, who later married Lord Federick Lugard, the former governor-general of Nigeria in 1902, coined the name ‘Nigeria’

Also on this day in 1980, a Senator in the National Assembly, lbrahim Barau, is jailed for smuggling for one year without an option to pay fine
