2010 Independence Day Bombings: Court Adjourns Okah’s Case Till Jan. 19

Charles-Tombrah-OkahThe trial of the suspected mastermind of the 2010 Independence Day bombings in Abuja, Charles Okah, has been adjourned till Tuesday, January 19.

A Federal High Court, Abuja on Monday adjourned the trial to allow for further examination and re-examination of witnesses.

Charles, a brother to Henry Okah, the leader of the Movement for the Emancipation Niger Delta, MEND, who is currently serving a 24 years jail sentence at the Ebongweni Correctional Centre in Kwa-Zulu Natal, South Africa after he was convicted on 13 charges of terrorism, including the Abuja Independence Day bombings, is standing trial alongside one Nwabueze Obi, on charges bordering on conspiracy and terrorism.

The trial judge, Justice Gabriel Kolawole directed that the accused persons be further remanded in Kuje prison till the adjourned date.
