The Taraba State Government says it is trying to contain the outbreak of Lassa fever which has led to one death.

State Commissioner of Health, Dr. Innocent Vakkai, said two persons are being observed.

According to him, their blood samples have been taken to the Irrua Specialists’ Hospital in Edo State for further confirmation.

The Information Commissioner also asked members of the public not to panic, as the state government has responded swiftly to the outbreak.

The outbreak is not the first in Taraba where 10 people died as a result of the disease oubreak in 2012.
