Oliseh Metuh, the National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party( PDP ) had in a recent statement on behalf of the PDP said the Buhari administration was not pressing charges against embattled Sambo Dasuki, former National Security Adviser to President Goodluck Jonathan because of the alleged $2.1bn arms deal scandal but because Buhari was trying to secure himself an easy re-election in 2019 by eliminating Dasuki. According to Metuh, given Dasuki’s vast political and security network and the fact that the PDP has zoned its presidential ticket to the north, where Dasuki is from, Buhari finds this a threat to his re-election in 2019. – Dasuki’s alleged involvement in the arms deal that looted the country has put a dent on his personality both personal and political forever.
– The prospect of PDP choosing Dasuki as it flag bearer in 2019 presidential race will further plunge the party, which David Mark has described as a party in coma to a dead party as Nigerians long everyday for a better government not the same old people recycling themselves in power.
– Dasuki, even if freed by the court eventually can not be the only Northern PDP member that is eligible and will want to run for presidency.
