An armed robbery suspect, Emma Osina who led two other to raid the residence of an Indian has confessed that his target was a special ipad.
Osina who is being interrogated at the Special Anti Robbery Squad (SARS) of the Lagos State Police Command said; “I am an ICT consultant. The Indian is one of my biggest client and I have been working for him but he is very stingy. As I was working for him, I discovered that one of his iPads is very unique. I have searched round the country, there was nowhere I could get it. I begged the Indian, Mr Aneesh to help me buy one but he refused. I needed it badly, so I now thought of how I could get it.
“I approached one of my friends who advised that we could act like robbers and pick the things from the Indian. My friend now invited his friend. We bought toy guns, went to the Indian residence and threatened him with the toy guns. He started pleading with us to spare his life. We now tied his hands and legs with rope and ransacked his house. We collected the iPad and other items.
“As we were leaving, I can’t explain how the Driver to the Indian knew I was the one even though I masked my face. He called my name and I was distabilsed. We couldn’t do anything to him as we were armed with just toy guns. I started pleading with him not to expose me but he has already called in the Police.
“I want to make one thing clear, I am not really an armed robber, I was only looking for the special iPad which I believed would have helped me in my ICT job. I feel so ashamed because I have disappointed my family, friends and my clients. I am begging for forgiveness. Let the Police set me free because, I am a first time offender.
“Yes, we tied the Indian because, if we did not do so, he would shout or call in the Police. Well, what we feared most really happened to us. If I had known that the Driver would recognise me, I wouldn’t have involved myself in this mess. I regret all my actions and I pray that I will come out of this mess”
The State Commissioner of Police, Mr Fatai Owoseni said a three-man gang of armed robbers invaded one Mr Aneesh residence, an expatriate in Gbagada and dispossessed him of money, GSM Phones, iPad, Laptop and other valuables.
He said that the Anthony Police Division responded to a distress call and intercepted the hoodlums, arrested one while others escaped.
He said the stolen items were recovered from the suspect and handed over to the victim.
