IMF Boss Arrives Nigeria

Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) has arrived Nigeria on a four-day visit during which she will meet with President Muhammadu Buhari and other senior leaders, along with business leaders, prominent women, and representatives of civil society, as well as lawmakers.

“I look forward to productive meetings with President Buhari and his colleagues as they address important economic challenges, most importantly the impact of low oil prices,” Ms. Lagarde said ahead of her trip.

“Nigeria is working hard to improve its business environment, promote opportunities for growth in the private sector, and strengthen social cohesion, all areas where the government has an important role to play.”

Lagarde was welcomed by Finance Minister Kemi Adeosun Central Bank Governor Godwin Emefiele at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja.

Lagarde who will also visit Cameroon will be in the region until Jan. 9.
