The Governor of Delta State, Ifeanyi Okowa, has condemned the killing of the monarch of Ubulu-Uku, His Royal Majesty Obi Edward Akaeze Ofulue III who was kidnapped and later killed.
“It was sad that a reigning king was abducted but an unheard-of fact was his murder in the most dehumanizing circumstances by his abductors, in the forest,” a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary.
“I have directed an inquiry into this abominable act and call on Deltans; particularly the kingdom and the security agencies to work harmoniously to unearth the culprits.”
His Royal Majesty, Obi Akaeze Ofulue the III, was held for about two weeks by his abductors but his body was found in the thick bush of Umunede, Ika Local Government Area on Thursday morning.
Following the incident, a youth protest has erupted in Ubulu-Uku town. Eyewitnesses said some suspected Fulani cattle rustlers had kidnapped the Obi and headed for the forest.
