Delta State Police Command said it arrested three men for allegedly defiling a 15-year old girl in Agbor, the administrative headquarters of Ika South Local Government Area of the state.
The men were identified as Messers Kenneth Okoro, 58, Abolity A. Ogwu, 65 and Paul Ogwe aged 70.
According to the state command spokeswoman, Mrs. Celestina Kalu, a Duty Superintendent of Police (DSP), the three were arrested following a report at Police Station Agbor by the mother of the victim, Mrs. Patricia Oroyelu.
The mother told the police that her daughter (names withheld) was severally raped by the aforementioned suspects, “taking advantage of the state of her (victim’s) health.”
However, the Delta State police spokeswoman did not disclose the nature of the girl’s health problem or whether the suspects were involved in providing her any medical services.
The three accused were said to have seized the opportunity of her weak health condition to have canal knowledge of the teenage girl several times, until her suspicious mother discovered the heinous crime during a close examination she carried out on her daughter on 19 February, 2016.
She subsequently raised the alarm and eventually reported the matter two days later at the Agbor police station last Sunday, leading to the arrest of the three suspects.
According to a statement signed by Mrs. Kalu, “Mrs. Patricia Oroyelu of Alisime, Agbor, reported at the Police Station Agbor that on 19/2/2016 that she discovered that one Kenneth Okoro (male) aged 58yrs, Ability A. Ogwu (male) 65yrs and Ogwe Paul (male) 70yrs have severally been raping/defiling her 15 year-old daughter (Miss Oroyelu)’by taking advantage of her state of health”.
She said that the three suspects were subsequently arrested by detectives, noting that the suspects had already been charged to court.
