Celine Dion Breaks Down In Tears During Late Husband’s Memorial Service

A grieving Celine Dion broke down in tears as she honoured her late husband René Angélil on stage in Las Vegas.

Friends, family and fans gathered at the Colosseum at Caeser’s Palace – the place of her residency – on Wednesday for the touching service, which was live-streamed across the world.

“Let me start by saying good evening good friends. Rene, the love of my life, would be so happy to know we are here together. I feel the love in this room,” Celine told crowds.

“This is my home away from home. At the same time I’m supposed to feel extremely comfortable being home and right now I’m not sure how comfortable I feel.”

Getting emotional as she remembered her husband of more than 20 years, she continued: “René never hated anyone. Is it possible someone loves everybody

“I don’t think so. But he never told me a person he disliked… Time was precious to him. He loved life so much, so very much.”

René died on January 14, two days before his 74th birthday, following a long battle with throat cancer.

Celine nursed the music manager throughout his treatment and she recounted how the pair would sit together and watch The Price is Right, with René crying with joy every time someone won.

Ending her tribute, Celine said: “Rene, I love you so much. Merci. Goodnight.”

Celine – whose brother Daniel died of cancer just days after her husband passed away – recently thanked fans for offering their “love and support” to her, her kids, René-Charles, 15, and five-year-old Eddy and Nelson, and René’s children Patrick, Jean-Pierre and Anne-Marie, from previous relationships.

René was laid to rest at a public funeral at the Notre-Dame Basilica – where he and the singer were married in 1994.
