One of the accused persons standing trial for the October 1, 2010 Independence Day bombing in Abuja, Charles Okah, yesterday had his bail application thrown out by a Federal High Court in Abuja.
Okah hinged his bail application on grounds of ill-health.
The suspect, who was arraigned by the Attorney General of the Federation (AGF) alongside a co-conspirator, Obi Nwabueze, for alleged involvement in the bombings that killed 12 persons and destroyed several vehicles, had complained of fresh ailment requiring surgery at the National Hospital, Abuja.
The prosecution counsel, Alex Izinyon (SAN), while opposing the bail application, told the court that the ailment is not life-threatening to warrant the release of the accused person from jail.
He said the ailment can be treated in prison facility.
In his ruling, Justice Gabriel Kolawole adjourned the case to March 16 for hearing.
