Yahaya BelloThe Kogi State government yesterday alerted the general public to the activities of suspected fraudsters who opened fake Facebook and Twitter accounts in the name of Governor Yahaya Bello with the sole aim of defrauding people.

Special Adviser to the Governor on Media and Strategy Abdulkareem Abdulmalik, in a statement in Lokoja, the state capital, said Bello presently is not on Facebook or Twitter.

The statement warned the public not to allow themselves to be deceived by fraudsters, saying the governor, being IT-compliant, would make his official social media accounts known to the public whenever they are launched.

The statement reads: “I have been directed to inform the public that the governor has not opened any facebook or twitter account.

“This announcement is imperative in view of the fake social media accounts in the name of Governor Bello opened by unscrupulous individuals to defraud the public.

“As an IT-compliant governor, Alhaji Bello will use the social media for information and social activities in his drive for a better Kogi State. Official accounts will be made public when launched”.
