President Muhammadu Buhari says Nigeria will continue to partner with other members of the Lake Chad Basin Commission – Chad, Cameroon and Niger – to contain activities of terrorists and other criminals in the West African sub-region.
He stated this at the State House Abuja on Tuesday while speaking at a joint press briefing with visiting Liberian President, Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf.
President Buhari also said Nigeria would partner with Liberia to ensure the conduct of free and fair elections in five African countries this year.
He said he and President Johnson-Sirleaf, earlier at their closed-door bilateral meeting, discussed how Nigeria and Liberia could help the countries concerned to conduct the general elections.
The visiting president thanked Nigeria for having supported her country many times in the past especially in the intervention during the Ebola epidemic and expressed the hope that the bilateral relationship would be sustained.
