Factional leader of the Movement for the Actualization for the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB), Mr. Uchenna Madu has warned Chief Ralph Uwazuruike and members of his group to stop parading themselves as members of the pro-Biafra group.
Uwazuruike and Madu-led factions have been engaged in war of words claiming to have expelled each other’s faction from the Movement.
In a statement on Monday through his National Director for Information, Comrade Samuel Edeson, , Madu asked Uwazuruike and his group to stop deceiving Ndigbo with false claim “of leading and speaking for MASSOB.”
“It is on solid record that Ralph Uwazuruike was expelled from MASOB on 30th of November, 2015 at MASSOB headquarters, Okwe by National/Regional officers because of his (Uwazuruike’s) anti MASSOB activities, criminal tendencies and financial fraud, he went off and formed another group called Biafra Independent Movement (BIM) after a week later,” the statement read in part.
Madu accused Uwazuruike of politicizing the pro-Biafra group which saw him being given and executing government contracts in Goodluck Jonathan’s administration after he promised to use the group to campaign for the ex-president. According to Madu, the recent turn around in their (Uwazuruike’s faction) support for the Leader of IPOB and Director of Radio Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu was a sign that they were jittery that the emergence of Kanu would expose “their fraud, sabotage and criminal activities against Biafra.
“Ralph Uwazuruike should know that Ndigbo and Biafrans in general are aware of his anti-Biafra position. Biafrans in Diaspora and at home are also aware that Uwazuruike’s Biafra only stops at Owerri where he established his paradise on earth. MASSOB advise the duo of Solomon Chukwu (present leader of MASSOB) and Sunny Okereafor (factional National Publicity Secretary) to stop incurring the wrath of Biafrans.”
In a swift reaction, however, leader of MASSOB, Uwazuruike faction, Chief Solomon Chukwu who spoke through its National Director of Information, Sunny Okereafor, told Vanguard that the Uchenna Madu’s faction was expelled from MASSOB for sabotaging Biafra and accused them of using the name of the organization to dupe politicians.
Chukwu warned Madu against using MASSOB and Biafran struggle to gain cheap publicity and platform for merchandise, stressing that anyone dealing with Madu in the name of MASOB is doing so at his own risk.
“We won’t allow MASSOB to be distracted by Uchenna Madu and his cohorts. They now work for politicians having been expelled from MASSOB for anti Biafra activities. Chief Ralph Uwazuruike is the founder of MASSOB which he properly handed over to me.
“Soon, we will call Uchenna Madu and his group to order,” Chukwu said.
