Adamu was arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for allegedly embezzling $100 million.

EFCC’s Head of Media and Publicity at the time, Mr. Femi Babafemi said, Adamu was arrested over fraudulent award of contracts mostly on capital project during his eight-year rule as governor of the State. He said the former governor would be arraigned in court after his interrogation.

– Also on this day in 2012, the Federal Government renewed oil licenses which allowed US energy giant oil company, ExxonMobil to operate 3 big fields that will produce about 500,000 barrels of crude a day for twenty (20) years.
