The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) says it has uncovered and aborted a highly sophisticated plot by some individuals to defraud it.
Some of the individuals who were part of the fraud attempt have been arrested by security operatives, reports Channels TV, citing ‘competent sources’.
The TV also reported that the amount involved in the botched financial transaction was said to be below $200,000.
The CBN has therefore commenced investigation of some staff members to ascertain their level of complicity or otherwise in the attempted fraud.
The apex bank assured in a statement on Thursday, that the security of the bank remains intact.
